What separates a Japanese 151 listing from an English one?

Summary

Japan's Pokémon Card 151 is an enhanced expansion released June 16, 2023, sold in 7-card packs at ¥290 and marked SV2a on each card. The English 151 expansion is a separate release that began September 22, 2023. Its official page lists nine products, including an Elite Trainer Box and a Binder Collection, and no Booster Display Box. So a "151" listing can hold very different things depending on the language and the product.

Japanese 151 on its own terms

The Japanese pack holds seven cards, drawn at random, and covers the Pokémon from Bulbasaur through Mew. The official page highlights specially illustrated AR, SAR, and SR cards, plus mirror-finish cards with a Poké Ball pattern. The only bundled product on the page is the card file set, in a Poké Ball design and a Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise design, each ¥2,200. Each set contains Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle promos, a card file, five packs, and a catalog poster.

English 151 products

The English expansion page lists more than 160 cards, 12 new Pokémon ex, and all 151 original Kanto Pokémon in Pokédex order. Products released September 22, 2023, were the Elite Trainer Box, the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, the Booster Bundle, the Binder Collection, and the Poster Collection. The Ultra-Premium Collection, the Alakazam ex and Zapdos ex collections, and the Mini Tin followed on October 6, 2023.
