Can you walk into a Tokyo Pokémon Center on release day and buy new cards?

Summary

Not always. For the 30th CELEBRATION expansion released September 16, 2026, Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO sold packs only to people who won an advance lottery, with a limit of 10 packs per person. The official store list shows where each Pokémon Center and Pokémon Store in Tokyo is.

How MEGA TOKYO sold the 30th anniversary packs

A notice on the MEGA TOKYO store page, posted September 7, said sales from September 16 to 20 would go through an advance lottery to prevent crowding. Entries ran September 7 to 11 through a LINE mini app, one entry per person, and the notice asked people not to enter for more than one store or date. Only winners were notified, and buying required a smartphone that could display the purchase ticket screen; screenshots were not accepted. No regular sales were planned during the lottery period, and the FUTURISTIC BOX, an online product, was not sold in the store.

A second notice, posted September 16, announced another lottery for the packs alone, with sales from September 24 to 30 and the same 10-pack limit, and said later regular sales were undecided. Other stores post their own sales methods on their store pages.

Pokémon stores in Tokyo

Pokémon Center TOKYO-BAY, despite the name, is in LaLaport TOKYO-BAY in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture. Other shops that carry Pokémon cards can be searched by prefecture in the official Pokémon Card Game store finder, which notes that it does not show every store and hides some while stock is short.
