When did Quarter Century Secret Rares come out, and are they still being printed?

Published · By the Cards from Japan editors

Summary

Quarter Century Secret Rare is the 25th anniversary rarity. It debuted in Japan in RARITY COLLECTION -QUARTER CENTURY EDITION- on February 18, 2023, and KONAMI's Quarter Century Bonanza page says these cards "are only here during the 25th Anniversary." In the official database, Blue-Eyes White Dragon's last Quarter Century Secret Rare printings are from April 2025 in both English and Japanese.

How the English sets handled it

The 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection (released November 2, 2023) covered 79 cards in seven rarities, among them Quarter Century Secret Rare and Platinum Secret Rare. The Secret Rare in each pack had a 1-in-4 chance of being upgraded to one of those two.

Quarter Century Bonanza, launched November 8, 2024, at $5.99 a pack, went further. Each 5-card pack swapped a Super Rare for a guaranteed Platinum or Quarter Century Secret Rare drawn from a separate 200-card pool. KONAMI also wrote that it has never reprinted a card that already has a Quarter Century Secret Rare version in that same rarity.

Blue-Eyes White Dragon as an example

The English database shows six Quarter Century Secret Rare rows for Blue-Eyes, from LC01-EN004 (April 21, 2023) through RA04-EN002 and RA04-EN108 in QUARTER CENTURY STAMPEDE (April 11, 2025). The Japanese database also shows six, from QCDB-JP009 (December 23, 2023) to the Japan Post collaboration card NYC1-JP001 (April 22, 2025). The newer RARITY COLLECTION 5 printing (April 10, 2026) comes as Ultra Rare and Starlight Rare only, and Japan's LIMITED PACK -STAMP EDITION- (December 13, 2025) has no Quarter Century row either.
