Are Japanese and English Union Arena sets the same product?
Summary
No. The official rules treat the Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese releases as separate versions, and the product codes split too, with UA for Japanese sets and UE for English ones. The same title gets a different number and date. CODE GEASS is UA01BT in Japan (March 24, 2023) and UE04BT in English (December 13, 2024).
Where each version is played
The regional card rules, current as of June 21, 2024, list:
- English version: the U.S.A. and Canada.
- Japanese version: Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand, plus mainland China for titles not released in Simplified Chinese.
- Simplified Chinese version: mainland China.
Same title, different set
JUJUTSU KAISEN came out in Japan as UA02BT on March 24, 2023 and in English as UE03BT on November 22, 2024, and both list 100 card types plus 6 AP cards. CODE GEASS doesn't line up so neatly. The Japanese UA01BT has 100 types plus 6 AP, while the English UE04BT has 108 types plus 7 AP. Packs differ as well: 8 cards for ¥385 including tax in Japan, 12 cards for $4.99 in English. Every English product page carries the line that products and specifications may differ from those released in other countries or regions.
Some Japanese titles have not reached English at all. Kamen Rider (Japanese booster, October 25, 2024) and the Gakuen Idolmaster booster (September 13, 2024) are missing from the title filter of the English Card List, which was last updated September 18, 2026.
