How does a graded Dragon Ball card show up in PSA and BGS records?
Summary
A PSA certification page splits the card into separate fields for year, product, character, card number, and variety. For TB1-097 Son Goku from the themed booster The Tournament Of Power, the Brand/Title reads DRAGON BALL SUPER CARD GAME THEMED BOOSTER 1 TOURNAMENT OF POWER, the Card Number reads TB1-097, and the Variety reads SECRET RARE. Tournament prize cards get their origin spelled out in auction titles, as in 1st Place National Championship Finals.
A PSA certification record
PSA cert 63942316 lists the year as 2018 and the subject as SON GOKU, AWKD POWER, a shortened form of the card name Son Goku, The Awakened Power. The category is TCG Cards and the grade is GEM MT 10. The set name and the card number sit in separate fields, so each can be searched on its own.
Auction titles for BGS and prize cards
Heritage Auctions offered the same TB1-097 in April 2023 as a BGS PRISTINE 10, and the lot description gave its subgrades as centering 9.5, edges 10, corners 10, and surface 10. The same sale included SSB Vegito, Energy Eruption BT7-25, described as the 1st-place winner card from the 2019 Dragon Ball Super National Championship Finals, with that origin in the lot title. Final prices on both lots are shown only to signed-in users.
CGC says it grades virtually all trading card games, and Dragon Ball is not on its list of cards it does not grade. Accepted cards must measure 2-5/8 by 3-3/4 inches (6.6 cm by 9.5 cm) or smaller.
